Educational Moment

I love everything Dan Meyer has to say about problem solving in this clip. Its long, 15 minutes, but you'll learn so much from him. I believe his same philosophy can be applied to the church as well. How often are our sermons and devotional talks scripted just like the math problems in a textbook? Are we letting people think and explore and involve themselves in the Kingdom? Or are we relying on neatly packaged devotional type messages that leave people trying to follow formulaic methods for living a life that reflects a Kingdom and God who are not formulaic, nor are they chaotic. I'm going to think about this more, but I see a lot of parallels here.

Simile Metaphor Collection

Elijah after running: My heart is beating like a coconut rolling down a hill.
Elijah on urination: Pee is like horses galloping out of the gate. Once they get started you just can't stop them.
Elijah: If school were a human I'd give it a wedgie.
Elijah: I am like a hot rod and I just want to be a plain old Ford
Elijah on the fruits of the spirit: I've got them all covered except self-control. Its like a tiny green tomato and the rest are all big ripe ones. Especially love. Its like the biggest tomato we saw in the garden tonight.
